Good Vibes

Fuck you March.
During last month I forgot a few things that I hope I don't ever forget.
You're allowed to be selfish. You're allowed to change your mind. You're allowed to be independent without being considered a bitch. Don't ever change your sensational (and sometimes complex) personality and quirks for anyone.  Sometimes you forget that you (and only you) have complete control over who/what happens in your life. If you don't like something, REMOVE IT and keep moving forward.

If that particular girl in your group of friends keeps being mean to you then stop being around her or say something. Don't just sit there and take her crap. You don't have to deal with that.

If you don't want to date that guy then kindly decline and don't feel bad. Life is too short to date boys you have zero interest in.

If your econ teacher keeps making sexist comments and jokes. Question him and be sassy. That 40 year old better stick to teaching you how to find the marginal cost instead of making fun of girls.

Don't wallow in the negative shit.
Instead, focus on the good stuff and let it be your motivation to keep going. Surround yourself with people that have positive attitudes and respect you. Treat yourself to some good fucking food. Try all the coffee and fruity drinks in that coffee shop you go to simply because you can .And whenever you feel stressed take a deep breathe and make some lists. Don't be miserable due to things you have the ability to change.Life is amazing. You're amazing. Enjoy it.

Hello April.

Behind This Blog: Alex

It's time we stopped being strangers! This blog is about to get a lot more personal. To prepare you for this exciting milestone we decided to properly introduce ourselves. So below is a short interview with Alex, who is 1 out of the two people running Carolina & Alex. We also shot a quick video (with a sneaky ootd) in hopes you'll get a sense of what Alex is like. Check it out and enjoy! x

Name: Stephanie Alejandra or "Alex"
Age: 18
Location: Suburb of Los Angeles, CA

Who are you? I am the "Alex" behind Carolina and Alex. I am the artist and creative backbone.
Fave style icon(s)? I am drawn to the effortless style of Alexa Chung, and the sharp minimalist Look of Aimee Song, (overall Aimee Song is probably my spirit animal)
What have you recently been listening to? Foster the People's new album Supermodel!! If you haven't listened to it what are you waiting for? You're missing out!
Any current obsessions? Black ,White and GOLD! I love that trio. Also I would have to say the Nike Roshe look with a sharp minimalist outfit.
What do you do during your free time? I enjoy redecorating my bedroom and working on cool D.I.Y projects.
Favorite book? My all time favorite would have to be The Perks of Being a Wallflower, it got me through high school, I probably read it every year of high school.
Fave place to be? I think Los Angeles in general, I enjoy being in the City. That or in our local art gallery.
What are your future plans? Graduate from University and land myself a job as an interior designer/set designer.
Dream vacation? Road trip around Mexico City, I want to go back to my roots.
Goals? Probably to have traveled most of Europe, worked as set crew in a movie, Produce a Film!
Your three simple pleasures: A full season of a good show, frozen yogurt, and my white comforter
Essentials: headphones, statement jacket, sunglasses, and chunky shoe
What is your mantra? Stay Golden (I might even get it tattooed)

'New American' Album Release Party

On Friday night we hastily attended the album release party for New American not really expecting much. We went to the party without listening to any of their music, all we knew was that they were a local band from Downey. Personally, we didn't have very high expectations for their performance but I must admit they did not disappoint. It was a very intimate performance at Stay Gallery where they completely blew our minds. They played their own material which was fun and catchy and also did covers to Muse ,The Black Keys and others. The lead singer was def some eye candy and his voice was amazing BUT that did not distract us from the charisma and talent the rest of the band members had to offer. You can sense their genuine chemistry with each other while playing which made their performance a lot more fun to watch. These boys have plenty of talent to offer and can def see them getting big.

What's In My Purse?

That blue purse can def be considered my first real, sophisticated purse. It's made me really happy due to its great size and beautiful color. In celebration I decided to show it off along with all its usual contents. Apart from usually having food/drink in my bag, I think the pictures are accurate.

STAY: Non-Toxic Event + Bones of Steel

Posters via  Stay

Frankly, this is very embarrassing. Back in November we attended an exhibit at our local (and favorite) art gallery,Stay, where we experienced a variety of things and not until now are we sharing them. Firstly, I'm pretty sure this was our first official art exhibit if not it def was the most memorable. That night we talked to the team in charge of the gallery, briefly met Cristian Castro (Artist behind Bones Of Steel) and chatted with the director of  KAB Europe. It was all very exciting, so exciting our hands kept trembling while filming resulting in some very interesting footage. Anyway, that night is the night we realized the opportunity that came with having an up and coming art gallery so close to home. Let's just say we are headed towards great things.

Just because the exhibit was 4 months ago doesn't mean you shouldn't watch the video above and appreciate the art via your computer. Your feedback would be appreciated, thanks.

Update

This post has been long overdue and I apologize about that this year has kick started with a lot of new challenging tasks that we've yet to wrap our brains around. Twenty fourteen has been a year planted in our minds for quite a while now; it is the year that will bring the most change and challenge. This year is the end of our childish high school extravaganzas and the introduction to adulthood. (Yuck, how gross does that sound?) It is the year we have both yearned and dreaded, but alas it is here. So here’s to 2014 the most amazing year yet. Not only will this year bring change into our daily lives we hope it will also bring some new and exciting adventures for us to share with all of you. We've come up with goals to go along with this year’s craziness so stay tuned for upcoming posts, videos, projects, and ADVENTURES.
